Enjoy the views from the house with expansive picture windows and large wraparound deck, no bad view from anywhere.
Hammock in the trees overlooking the water is very relaxing, perfect with a cool drink and good book.
The Oak Bay Getaway is located on Oak Bay (Yarr Road at mile marker 1.8 Oak Bay Road) on the eastern shore of the fabulous Olympic Peninsula in Port Hadlock, Washington between Port Ludlow and Port Townsend. It has three bedrooms to accommodate six people comfortably, two with king size beds and one with a queen. The loft master bedroom has its own private bath and walk-in closet.
This vacation home was built in 1996. In December 2000, we decided to share it with people looking for solitude, yet located near multiple recreational and tourist activities. It sits on an acre of beach front property. The property and surrounding area have been in the family's possession for over a hundred years.
From the greatroom, the master bedroom, or the front deck, you can watch the herons feed at low tide, or a pair of local eagles soar overhead. Ships pass through Puget Sound between the sea and Seattle a mile off shore. Relax, watch and enjoy yourself away from the bustle of the city.
If you like crab, try your luck at low tide off the beach.
The home is equipped with all of the modern conveniences; phone, cable TV, gas heating free standing fireplace stove, microwave oven, dish washer, clothes washer and dryer, linens, towels, dishes and flatware. All you need to bring is the food.
In the event you don't want to cook, try nearby restaurants, Ajax Cafe (mile marker 0.2 Oak Bay Road), and the Inn and Harbormaster (mile marker 8.7 Oak Bay Road) at the Port Ludlow marina to the south. We recommend them all. Ajax is operated by a couple who for many years ran a restaurant in Maine. They have music several nights of the week in the summer and are closed on Mondays.

Make use of the large yard down by the water for your activities.
You can prepare and cook your fresh catch of the day over an open beach fire, or steam some clams and oysters from local markets.
The three communities of Port Hadlock, Chimacum, and Irondale comprise the Tri-Area and are at the crossroads of the most populated area in Jefferson County. This commercial hub is the gateway to Marrowstone and Indian Islands, popular with visitors and locals for camping and seafood gathering.
Port Hadlock is located in Jefferson County, Washington, and is surrounded by incredible natural beauty from the jagged peaks of the Olympic Mountains to the lush green valleys of Chimacum and the sparkling waters of Puget Sound.
The area is rich in history, scenic beauty, and outdoor recreation. It has much to offer visitors including campgrounds, lodging, shopping, and several excellent restaurants.

The Olympic Peninsula is just bounding with places to see. Historical Port Townsend is 20 minutes drive and Port Angeles is an hour and 15 minutes drive from your vacation home. From Port Angles, drive up to Hurricane Ridge high in the Olympic mountains looking north across the Strait of Juan de Fuca at Vancouver Island, Canada and Canadian city of Victory. Take the ferry from Port Angeles across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Victoria, BC. In the spring, summer and fall, visit the famous Buchart Gardens in Victoria or have high tea at the Empress Hotel. If you want to make a several day trip, continue on to Vancouver via Canadian ferry system, then drive south back to the United States and south on Whidby Island and return on the ferry to Port Townsend.
The unique Hoh Rain Forest which experiences the greatest rainfall in the United States is located on the western shore of the Olympic peninsula. Don't worry, that's on the other side of the mountains, yet only two and a half hours away. The Getaway is located on the drier side of the mountains.
